It was the day before New Year’s Eve. I was tucking into the umpteenth mince pie I’d consumed over the holiday period with my feet up in front of the television, watching a film I’d seen every year at around the same time. In short, I was in full relaxation mode with the rest of the family.

This perhaps explains why my mind drifted away from the much-watched festive film, and I began to ponder New Year’s resolutions.
